Planning for the next women's visit

Dear friends in Abu Dis and also in Britain

Hoping you're all well ... in this increasingly crazy world.... Hoping to be in good touch with you all in the struggle for human rights including women's rights.

It has been good to stay in touch over many years now of women's links between Camden and Abu Dis - some times more closely, sometimes with more difficulty, sometimes through visits to each other's countries, sometimes through this blog. Nina and Nour have worked hard on a newsletter which we will also attch here).

We send our best wishes to friends old and new in Palestine and hope that this year our links will get stronger.

The women's links group in Camden has kept a stall in the Brunswick Centre, Russell Square, going for nearly 2 years now. It is run by volunteers who help regularly, and it is a lot of work -so big thanks and congratulations to everyone who has kept it going.

The money from the stall has been used towards women's links with Palestine: to help with the women's visit to Palestine last year, to help fund the women's twinning club in Abu Dis, and now we want to organise a small women's visit yo the UK in March 2018 to include a chance to celebrate International Women's Day together. It's very expensive to organise a visit here but even if there are only 2 or 3 visitors, we hope to visit women's centres and different areas of the UK to involve more women.

We're really pleased that our friends in Northampton and in Waltham Forest are considering joining in this project and it's possible (not definite) that people in other places may want to join too.

We've had two planning meetings so far and there will be more soon. We're welcoming our new volunteer, Ilaria, next week and she will be working on it. There will be another meeting on Saturday next week. .. We welcome people to come and work alongside Ilaria .. Let us know if you can.

We've decided to have a series of events soon using the Stories from our Mothers film and readings from the book (this was from a Cadfa women's project several years ago) to raise the profile of the visit and also to raise some money. The Camden one may be on 6th October... The Waltham Forest and Northampton ones are being planned.

We hope this is a good chance too to work more widely across our own community... and we welcome   the involvement of new people. MORE VERY SOON!!
